Taking a step back from our uncrewed program, our scientists have several new experiments they wish to perform on Mun's surface.

The CR-4.1 rocket does not currently have enough capacity to return from orbit around Mun, but we can test the next-best thing.

1. Flight-qualify new single-crew spacecraft.
2. Perform re-entry test from free-return trajectory around Mun.
3. Return safely to Kerbin.

Our first crewed spacecraft is a single-crew capsule atop the same R-4.1 rocket that has been carrying our satellites into orbit (for the most part).

This test flight will verify everything is in place for our first crewed mission.
