Mission Objectives:
  1. Transmit thermal data from space high above Kerbin
  2. Transmit thermal data from space around Mun
  3. Achieve orbit around Mun
Crew:
  • None

This series of Forager launches was meant to test new guidance software, allowing a craft to calculate and perform orbital manouvres autonomously. This test mission will launch, circularize, complete one orbit, then perform a deorbit burn.

This test serves as both preparation for our upcoming crewed program, and for enhanced satellite deployment capability.

This rocket features an even more enlongated Forager rocket, possibly allowing the probe to reach stable orbit around Mun.

The launcher is configured to wait until Mun is 95º in front of the launch site before beginning the countdown.

The probe is configured to make orbital adjustments upon reaching Mun's SOI in order to reach a stable orbit.

Mission Objectives:
  1. Achieve orbit around Kerbin.
  2. Run experiments and transmit data on command
  3. Perform automated orbital adjustment
Crew:
  • None

While Forager IV was able to transmit data, it was unable to receive commands. SCISAT 1's software has the ability to run commands sent via kOS, allowing longer missions and possible recovery from software bugs.

Once in orbit, a command will be sent telling the probe to take a temperature reading, and transmit the data back to KSC.

Hello and welcome to DunaQuest V! This is the story of a KSP Career mode with the goal of establishing semi-permanent bases on Duna and beyond.

Here's a short summary of some of the extra rules and guidelines being adhered to in this career.

Launch Cadence

Launches are permitted every 23 Kerbin days. Scrubbed launches, due to software or other glitches discovered before ignition, delay the mission by one day.

Mission Progression

The program will progress through missions step-by-step, successfully reaching one milestone before progressing to the next. This means before we attempt to put a probe into orbit around a body, we must first have performed a successful flyby of that body. Before performing a crewed mission, we must have successfully performed an equivalent uncrewed mission. In addition, crewed vehicles must successfully fly uncrewed qualification missions before carrying crew.

The Historical Progression Tech Tree mod will be used because the default tech tree doesn't lend itself to starting off with uncrewed flights.

Life Support

Life support will be provided by USI Life Support, with the most difficult settings enabled.

Fuels and Engines

The Cryogenic Engines mod provides for boil-off of cryogenic fuels. To provide an incentive to research and use them, long-duration missions must use low-effeciency engines or monoprop to simulate hypergolic fuels.

Crewed launch vehicles may not use SRBs as they pose too great a safety risk.

Automation

Inspired by the Kerbal Space Programming series, all launches, manouvres, transfers, rendezvous, dockings, and landings must be completely automated. In addition, kOS scripts must be uploaded to the craft prior to launch, as console access is not permitted during flight. Third, lifters and payload must have their own independent flight computers, as they're developed by different bureaus within our agency.

During launch, staging will be controlled by onboard SmartParts sensors, while trajectories will be controlled by kOS scripts that will be rewritten from earlier quests.
