Named after astronaut Margaret Rhea Seddon, Project Seddon's goal is to perform an uncrewed flyby of Duna. It's hoped to launch for the year 1 Duna transfer window around day 231.
The main barrier was developing solar cells to power the craft on its long journey. It also required a more powerful antenna, and upgrades to mission control and the tracking station. In order to meet this goal, emphasis during the first year was on uncrewed flight and science. It was an ambitious goal but meeting the challenge will put us far ahead of the previous program! |
