Launch R5-001: Fisher 2 (Mun Landing Test Flight)

Year 2, day 337.
Project: Fisher.
Mission Objectives:

• Test launch and re-entry of new R5 rocket.

Our new rocket dwarfs anything we've ever launch. Before sending crew to Mun, however, we need to flight-qualify the rocket. This includes a launch and simulated Mun transfer and re-entry.

After jettisoning the LES.

SECO occurs at T+127, at an altitude of 54.5km.

Completing the circularization burn.

The command module and lander separate from the upper stage.

Before returning to Kerbin, the lander is decoupled to burn up during re-entry.

The capsule begins re-entry.

The probe sails through the atmosphere, slowing to a safe speed for parachute deployment.

Mission Summary:

• Test launch and re-entry of new R5 rocket: success!
