Launch 1-2: Savitskaya 1

Year 1, day 24.
Project: Savitskaya
Mission Objectives:

1. Achieve suborbital flight.
2. Perform an EVA.
3. Return safely to Kerbin.

Crew: Valentina (Pilot)

This will be our first crewed launch. It is nearly equivalent to Tereshkova 1.

Rocket: Tereshkova I

A few anxious moments as the rocket begins to lift off from the pad!

The atmosphere begins to give way to the blackness of space.

Once out of the atmosphere, Valentina jumps out of her capsule for a few moments, then quickly jumps back in.

The capsule separates from the rocket before re-entry.

Re-entry was nominal.

Valentina patiently awaits recovery by our crew.

Mission Summary:

1. Achieve suborbital flight: success!
2. Perform an EVA: success!
3. Return safely to Kerbin: success!

Now that we have mastered the basics of spaceflight, we can move on to bigger and better things.
