Launch 2-9: Ivins 6

Year 2, day 196.
Project: Ivins.
Mission Objectives:

1. Launch satellite into polar orbit of Kerbin.
2. Perform biome scan of Kerbin.

The next step in preparing for our crewed moon landings is to map out the biomes in Mun and Minmus. First, we want to test this satellite by launching it around Kerbin.

MECO at 35km.

Fairing jettison at 45km.

The biome scanner works best at 250km, so the upper stage has a longer burn than normal.

The satellite is deployed at 70km while the upper stage is still on a suborbital trajectory.

The solar panels are deployed while the satellite coasts to apoapsis, where it raises the orbit to a 250km x 236km.

After circularizing to 250km x 250km, the biome sensor is activated and scanning begins.
