Launch 5-6: Biko 2 Hab/Lab

Year 5, Day 61.
Mission Objectives:

1. Dock habitation and science modules to Biko 2.

One of the DLSv3/DEUCES design tradeoffs made was to minimize the number of launch configurations. Instead of trying to have many sizes for different payloads, we would instead try to piggyback multiple payloads into a single launch to efficiently use the launchers we have.

Toward that end, we are launching our habitation and science modules to the Biko 2 station around Mun in a single launch, as opposed to two with Biko 1.

Payload: Halo Habitation Module

Payload: Zephyrus Science Lab

Lifter: DLSv3 Atlas V DUECES mk II

The mainsail engine initially failed to ignite but liftoff was eventually successful.

Booster jettison, a little lower than normal since the SRBs were burning before the main stage.

Fairing jettison.

Second stage ignition and first stage separation.

Go for TMI.

Our insertion burn put us in an eccentric orbit, affording an intercept after a quick burn to match the station's inclination.

Unfortunately, a glitch in the rendezvous routines has put the vessel off course. Fortunately, it is on an impact trajectory with Mun, and won't leave any debris in orbit.
